Monitor won't turn off, no screensaver

I loaded up v5.3.5, went to the graphical environment, got partimage backing up my hard drive, and apparently the laptop screen's just been on for the last 2 hours, and has 4 hours left.

I really don't want monitor burn in or any negative effects on the monitor, but I'm seeing no options to turn off the screen or turn on a screensaver. I don't know why so many Linux live CDs just do not have a default monitor-off timeout, and I've only seen a few actually do it right, like SystemRescueCD.
